Getting Started: Connect, Add, Request
From first login to your first paid request in minutes
Splitting shared costs should be simple, fast, and friendly. This guide walks you through connecting your bank, adding a cost, and sending a request that gets paid.
1) Connect your bank securely
Use our Plaid integration to link your account. Your credentials never touch Splitify servers, and you can disconnect any time from settings. If you prefer, you can also add costs manually without connecting a bank.
Tip: If your bank has multi-factor authentication, have your phone handy for a verification code.
2) Add a cost
Create a new cost, set the total, choose participants, and select how to split: equal shares, fixed amounts, or percentages. Add a short note so people know what it's for.
3) Set a due date and send
Pick a due date and add a friendly message. Splitify handles reminders, so you don't have to.
Troubleshooting quick wins
- Can't connect a bank? Try again later or continue manually—you can still send requests.
- Wrong amounts? Check the split type (equal vs fixed vs percentage) and who's included.
- People aren't seeing emails? Ask them to check spam or add a phone number for SMS.
Next steps
- Make your first recurring request for rent, utilities, or subscriptions.
- Customize reminder timing in settings to match your group.
- Invite your housemates so you can share visibility on the dashboard.
Ready to try it? Create your first request and see how smooth it feels.
